Crossfire 0.92.3 Announcement

The main change in this version is the addition of the randomly readable objects and extension of read/write skills. Largely, I had some time and wanted to get this code standardized. It should be no less stable the 0.92.2.

So on to the real release information:

There are two separate tar archives in the Crossfire 0.92.3 distribution:

sums (bsd) filename
08307 1325 crossfire-0.92.3.arch.tar.gz
09422 2912 crossfire-0.92.3.tar.gz

I didn't package the client or the maps, so I don't believe anything changed in either of those.

crossfire-0.92.3.tar.gz contains the actual program code. See the CHANGES file in this archive for everything that has changed. It also contains pre-made archetypes and image files, so that the crossfire-0.92.3.arch.tar.gz file is not needed.

crossfire-0.92.3.arch.tar.gz contains the unpacked archetype (arch) directory. This file is not needed if you just want to compile the games and play. The contents of this archive is used to create the archetypes, bmaps, font, and X PixMap (XPM) files. You only need it if you want to add new archetypes, mess around with the existing ones, or recreate some files. There are a few archetypes added (For light), and a few were changed.

FOR FIRST TIME USERS: You will need the crossfire-0.92.3.tar.gz and crossfire-0.92.2.maps.tar.gz file (this should be in the same location.) You do not need the crossfire-0.92.3.arch.tar.gz file.

Crossfire is avaible on the following ftp sites

Primary:
ftp.i.net:/pub/crossfire2 (192.243.32.18)
