Since someone asked about UDP packet size.. this is what "TCP/IP network
administration" sez about them,
UDP packets have 64 bits of header, followed by arbitrary length of data.
TCP packets have 192 bits of header, followed by arbitrary length of data.
It so happens that the length of data, when sensibly planned, is normally
calculated to fit into a 1500-byte IP frame without fragmentation.
However you look at it, though, UDP is a bunch faster.
