Various thoughts.

Just a mixture of thoughts and suggestions I have:

Those coloring XPM files: It would probably be a good idea to write
on the list what files you are or are planning on coloring. I know that
several people/groups are coloring them, and as far as I know, there is
no coordinated effort. Also, to make things easier, it would probably
be best to complete all the files in a directory before moving onto the
next. This way, you can just say something like 'I've done all
the images in monsters/acid, and plan to work on monsters/dragon next'

Maps: If you plan on editing the ones in the offical distribution, let
me know first, so I can tell you if I ahve done any editing or not. If
I have edited that map, your map file may not make it into the
distribution depending on the changes I made to mine. Also, if its just
a minor change (spelling, missing archetype in a place or two, etc), you
can just tell me what they are, and I will do it myself.

Quests: I like the quest dungeons I have done so far. Some can take
quite a while to do, however (old city). And while needing to get information
from NPC's is a nice touch, be careful of the method. If there is a room
full of 100 mostly identical creatures (townfolk, pirates, whatever), and
just a few contain information, it is a real pain to have to go up to
all of them and see if they actually have any information for you.

At least in ultima, you either killed what you met, or talked to it.
And pretty much everthing that was nonagressive had something notable
to say. This is not true in crossfire.

Also, if there is information that the NPC needs to tell you, there should
be some way of knowing to ask the correct question, and not just
guesswork. Most 'conversations' are set up to use keywords. The playe
should have some idea of the keyword to use (either from a previous
response, or as a referral.)
