You are probably misinterpreting it. With the X interface, your
character would be saved automatically when the connection was broken,
for whatever reason. This doesn't happen with the client --- when the
connection is broken (because you kill the client, for example), the
server just removes the player character, but does not save it. That's
the bug --- easy to fix.
