The biggest problem with the bow & arrow now is not the power of the weapon,
but the fact that too many maps have tons of creatures with generators behind
them, so the bow doesn't do you any good, or the fact that the monsters are
right behind a door you open, so they are already on you when you attack.

The bow and arrows are useful ways to kill many monsters.

I've done it a few times. The slaying arrows are not as useful (double or
triple damage for something that doesn't do a lot of damage but has a fast fire
rate, plus the arrows are rare). The assassinating arrows have been very
useful.

I don't have a problem with an item that makes unlimited arrows. I do have a
problem with arrows the clone what you have put in - there are some downright
nasty arrows out there (assassinating and the like), and to have an unlimited
supply would be a major boon to the players.

This may not be a big problem if the maps are redone, but right now you have
many maps with large numbers of similar monsters. If you can get the arrow that
assassinates them and have it in unlimited numbers, you have just gotten
yourself a lot of experience pretty easily.

IMO, the generators are more a map problem - I would really like to see the use
of generators reduced/discontinued.

I can see some desire of generators to fix the problem of 'kill one monster,
rush out, rest, gain hp/sp/whatever, go back in, kill another, and repeat until
the treasure room' problem. (another may really be a few or the like). This
could probably get fixed up in map handling - has some flag on the map that says
all monsters regenerate when swapped out or the like - when you save the map,
you save none of the monsters, and when you reload, you get all the monsters off
the original map. I guess this also has some problems.

But red dragons are one of the nastiest monsters in the game. Try anything in
front of 2 red dragons, and you are in for a heap or trouble.
