CF: The Archer

Hi

Next to the bard, we think about an archer.
I never use really bows & arrows. There are much better ways in game to play
it and its
dangerous to do it.

So we should create a guy with great power.

I prefer more "critical hit" action.

Hand on your heart: how often you use one of the "slaying xy" arrows in the
game?
i NEVER. And i know only one guy who do it. He has problems to make
levels...

The real problem is, to arm the right arrow in the right moment in the right
position.

Thats realistic but not playable. And we have a game, not a world
simulation. Let make
it playable.

I find out one way, we can solve it.

I think about a powerful artifact: the magic bolt/arrow holder.

It gives you unlimited arrows you can shoot. It shoot the arrow you put in!

This means: If you put in a silver head arrow (one not more) you can shoot
unlimited
silver head arrows.

No, it don't effect game play. All others, warrior, mage and priest has a
kind of unlimited
regenerative power. Only the archer must get his arrows back or buy them and
i tell you,
you always has no arrows when you face the big one.

Remember the Gauntlet roots Crossfire has. You face monster generators with
unlimited monsters,
you need unlimited arrows.

Back to the arrow holder. We can make VERY fancy things with it, when we
combine it with skills.

A arrow holder of power can hold 3 arrows. All specials of the arrows inside
are now specials of the arrows
the holder gives the archer.

That means if you put and arrow of fire, and arrow of slaying dragons and an
arrow+1 in it, you got and arrow+1 (slaying dragon) (attack: physical, fire,
cold).

Better holder, more arrows, better attack.

Remember, its not so easy to fire this arrows. you must run in, stand, fire
in direction... try it in front of 2 red dragons.
Better not.

So we must give him more power. A archer should kill at level X not less
effective than a warrior.

Skills live "critical hit" or so can added.

The best part is, that we use of course Dexterity as his main stats... and
now we have with the bard all stats "in combat".

The idea is very nice, because it add another WORKING way to play. Think
about it.

Michael

PS: and don't think about "non realistic" to have unlimited arrows, thats
not the point... or do you think a mage with fireball
is realistic?
